Street Law is a free outreach legal service that provides information, referrals, advice and advocacy support to the homeless or those at risk of homelessness. The services take place at the following host agencies in the Perth metropolitan area.


Ruah Centre
33 Shenton Street, Northbridge
Tuesdays (fortnightly) 10.00 am – 12 noon

 

St Pats (St Patrick’s Community Support Centre)
12 Queen Victoria Street, Fremantle
Tuesdays (weekly) 9.30am – 11.00am

 

Passages Resource Centre
22 Palmerston Street, Northbridge
Wednesdays (fortnightly) 10.30 am – 12.00 noon

 

Street Connect Bus
Corner of Hay and William Streets, Perth
Wednesday (fortnightly) 2.30pm – 3.30pm

 

Tranby Day Centre
Unit 5/6, Aberdeen Street, East Perth
Fridays (weekly) 8.30am - 10.30am

 

If a client is unable to attend, they can access our services by calling our freecall advice line.


We strive to provide free legal services in a manner which:

 

  • Achieves a high quality of service which meets your legal needs;

  • Is accessible to you;

  • Utilises pro bono services provided by lawyers in private practice in an efficient and effective manner;

  • Utilises the other resources available to Street Law in an efficient and effective manner; and

  • Is prudentially managed to ensure the ongoing viability of the organisation.

 

Our work may include letter writing, negotiation and minor court work services in the following legal areas:

  • Housing

  • Debts

  • Bankruptcy

  • Criminal Law (minor charges)

  • Discrimination

  • Guardianship and Administration applications

  • Police Complaints

  • Criminal Injuries Compensation

  • Freedom of Information applications

  • Fines

  • Violence Restraining Orders

  • Family law (assistance will initially be limited)
