HUMAN RIGHTS AND EQUAL OPPORTUNITY COMMISSION
Human Rights and Equal Opportunity Commission (HREOC) was formed to implement the Racial Discrimination Act (1975).
The work of HREOC includes:
- resolving complaints of discrimination or breaches of human rights under federal laws
- holding public inquiries into issues of national importance, eg forcible removal of Indigenous children from families and rights of children in immigration detention centres
- developing human rights education programs and resources
- providing independent advice to assist courts in cases that involve human rights principles
- providing advice and assistance to parliaments and governments to develop laws, programs and policies
- undertaking and coordinating research into human rights and discrimination issues.
HREOC works closely with other national human rights institutions, particularly through the Asia Pacific Forum of National Human Rights Institutions, to address major human rights issues in the region.

MAKING A COMPLAINT (WA GOVERNMENT)
The Complaints site is hosted by the Dept of Premier and Cabinet. This site has information on lodging a complaint about State Government Services. Information is available for download in a number of different languages.
